Hi and welcome to the Nature Kicks podcast with me, Shameer.
My goal is to help us appreciate nature’s wonders by inspiring a connection between people and the great outdoors through bite size storytelling.
Today is about “The ground you tread on”.
A 12 mile hike starting at Ashridge Estate in the Chiltern Hills, took me through some of the most jaw-dropping woodlands, landscapes and hillsides. One section was none other than Incombe Hole. As the name suggests, a steep drop beyond the hillside where a glacier once carved through the landscape.
I was excited to ramble up a glacier that stood here once upon a time. The ravine I could see before me swooping to the left and right were some obvious signs, and I could only imagine how thick and how far this glacier must have extended from the sheer remnants and folding of the landscape.
To reflect… Before embarking on a hiking adventure, research and investigate what geological features are embedded in the ground you tread on. It makes your hike far more entrancing.
Thank you for listening to the Nature Kicks podcast with me, Shameer. I look forward to welcoming you to the next one.
