Walking for Wellbeing and Mental Wellness
Spring is finally here, and you know what that means… walking for wellbeing through outdoor adventures!
It may not astonish many of us, but walking in a natural environment is excellent for our physical and mental wellbeing. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors first realised this idea of feeling safe in nature, letting them know where life could be sustained.
The walking for wellbeing understanding has been passed down to us, which is why so many mindful apps now incorporate relaxing sounds from nature.
Our ancestors knew they could thrive in this space by hearing bird songs, the wind rustling at the tree tops, the crunching of leaves below their feet, or a flowing stream. This understanding carries on today.

Walking for wellbeing – My journal entry to inspire:
“The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon, casting a beautiful glow on the meadow below. As the birds started to sing and the trees rustled in the gentle breeze, it was clear that nature was ready for another day.
But this morning was exceptional. For one glorious moment, all of nature seemed to stand still. The birds ceased chirping, the trees stopped swaying, and everything was calm and peaceful – A walking for wellbeing adventure for sure.
There was no stress or worry then, only a sense of serenity and contentment. All of life’s worries were forgotten, replaced by a deep longing for something simpler and more fulfilling.
This was what true respite felt like – a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life. A chance to connect with something bigger and better than ourselves.
And as the sun rose higher in the sky, so did my spirits. I knew I had found something special at this moment – an escape from reality that could never be taken away.
This was truly living for me.” ~ Shameer
